When I joined the team.

R. Diane Schmallegger, learning design and maker perspective

When I joined this system, I did not join a software project only. I joined a way of thinking about learning, evidence, daily life, and the small details that decide whether people can actually use a system when the day becomes busy.

My professional world has always been close to the learner: course design, online teaching, quality standards, assessment, and the question of whether a digital experience helps a real person move forward. That is the lens I bring into the Diary system. Tools matter, but people have to be able to trust them.

The portfolio here replaces a scattered public presence with one clearer roof. It keeps the academic and professional signals visible, but it also shows the quieter role: making sure a system built with ambition remains readable, teachable, and humane.
